American Trucking Associations Promote Safe Driving For Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is almost here, and that can only mean one thing — massive amounts of traffic. But thankfully the American Trucking Associations (ATA) is here to provide some tips on hitting the road this holiday season.

The ATA’s Share the Road highway safety program has recently released a new video promoting safe driving during the holiday season. The video features professional truck drivers providing a recap on safe-driving techniques, which are particularly important around the holiday season.

Remember, the holidays mean a flood of both regular motorists and truck drivers hitting the road. As Share the Road driver Scott Woodrome notes, “Many of the truck drivers you see on the highway this week are making last minute deliveries to grocery stores, giving folks one more chance to pick up everything they need to have an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday.” As such, drivers need to be extra vigilant when it comes to the rules of the road.

Share the Road’s video reminds drivers of some of the basics, like buckling your seatbelt and keeping your eyes on the road, but also covers some more seasonal aspects of driving. If you’re living in a cold climate, remember to remove ice and snow from your car before driving. You’ll also want to be sure to take things slow as traffic picks up. And if you’re driving a long distance, be sure to get your car tuned-up before your trip. After all, you don’t want to be forced to make unnecessary stops for repairs during the holidays.

The ATA’s Share the Road program is dedicated to keeping roads safe for regular drivers and truck drivers alike, and so is Consortium Pool.
